Advanced Figurative Sculpture Group

I am offering an Advanced Figurative Sculpture Group that will run for 4 consecutive Saturdays from 9:30a-12:30p at my studio located in Forestville, CA. This is a relaxed group and there is NO INSTRUCTION as it is designed to give you a chance to practice what was taught in the beginning workshops, experiment with new techniques, or do your own thing. Sculptors should have some basic knowledge of clay and sculpting in order to join this group. If you feel you will need more guidance, please let me know and I can set up some private lessons or critiques to help you. Or, join the beginning group classes with instruction before coming to the Advanced Workshop.

Session II - October 15, 22, 29 and November 5
Time: 9:30a-12:30p
The cost is $100.00 per 4 class Session (paid in advance, due week before group starts)

Bags of clay available for $12.00/25 lbs. bag (Soldate 60, other clays vary)
Firing cost is $24.00/cu. ft.

New! Sculpting Heads and Hands

I am offering a HEADS AND HANDS SCULPTURE WORKSHOP. This group will run for 8 Saturday sessions, each 3 hours long from 9:30a-12:30p located at my studio 6486 First St. in Forestville.

Dates: TBA
Cost: $390.00($100 paid in advance, balance due first day of class)
Includes model fees and one bag of clay. Firing costs are separate.

Working in waterbased-clay, this instructional workshop will start with exercises and information about the structure of the head in making portraits with an armature. At the same time we will also learn about the structure of hands and the relationship between the two. After the exercises we will incorporate our knowledge with a live model. Within the 8 weeks we will have two poses with two different models. I will help to guide you with technique, proportion and composition throughout the process.

Bags of clay available for $12.00/25 lbs. bag (Soldate 60, other clays may vary)
Firing cost is $24.00/cu. ft.

Tools: Although I have a variety to share, I recommend a starter kit of some basic tools. List provided after sign-up.

Beginning Figurative Sculpture

The Beginning Figurative Workshop will give you the basic skills in creating a figure in clay. The beginning classes will consist of some gesture exercises to give you the feel of the clay and work with the form. We will also cover some basic anatomy and relationships found in the human gesture. You will learn about solid and hollow construction. All of the work is spontaneous with a live model and will hone your skills of observation. I keep the class sizes small so you can have a fun, relaxing and non-threatening atmosphere where I can help you to find your creativity and strengths.

Dates: 8 Classes, TBA
Time: 9:30am-12:30pm

Cost: $390.00 ($100 deposit due in advance, balance due on the first day of class)

Figure Drawing Group

This Figure Drawing Group is for those who want to keep in practice drawing the live model. Drawing can improve your sculpture and is a way to practice capturing gesture and rhythm. We will meet on Fridays from 9:30-12:30 at my studio located at 6486 First St. in Forestville. We start with a different model each week doing short gesture poses and work into longer poses(20-30 mins.) over the 3 hours. There is no instruction just plenty of room to experiment and have fun.

Cost: $20.oo per session (drop-in), or $60 per four class session (paid in advance)

Workshop in Cold Finishing Techniques

The Workshop in Cold Finishing Techniques is a day long workshop that will cover some basics of finishing bisque fired pieces. You will have the opportunity to try available materials including oxides, paints, wax, polishes and some surprises. I will also cover some color painting application and repair information. Experimentation is encouraged.

Bring 3-4 bisque fired pieces to finish and a sack lunch.
